We are seeking applicants with skills, abilities, and willingness to provide instructional assistance and/or supervision for absent para educators. Paraeducators work under certificated teacher who leads the work to provide instructional or other appropriate services to students.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to relate to students, staff and parents.
- Acceptable verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to utilize appropriate strategies and techniques to provide effective instructional support.
- Work with students individually or in small groups in a variety of content areas/subjects.
- Provide for the safety of students at assigned work area by enforcing the rules for the site.
- Correct papers.
- Assist staff, as appropriate, in the design, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs and student progress.
- Assist in student supervision, discipline and safety.
- File papers, run errands, operate duplication machines, attendance, minor clerical duties.
- Lead group discussions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Para educator I, II, III: $23.90
High Needs Para educator I,II,III: $25.03
Licenses/Special Requirements
- Fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor.
- Must complete Safe Schools trainings and adhere to district infection control plan.
- May be required to obtain first aid and CPR certification.
For on-call positions, eligibility for benefits is determined by a number of factors, including the number of hours an employee worked during the last two (2) school years (September 1 through August 31). Some on-call positions may not be benefit eligible. Benefits are administered through the Payroll Department. Additional information is available on their district webpage. Regular employees who are not in on-call positions and are anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.
The district's healthcare benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Benefit eligible employees also qualify to optionally participate in deferred compensation/403B plans, dependent care flexible spending/health savings accounts, and additional life insurance and/or added long-term disability coverage through employee contributions. Sick leave, vacation, personal leave, and any paid holidays are aligned with bargaining agreements by association, as listed on our website.
Other benefits include VEBA, which is a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and serves as a way to contribute dollars on a pre-tax basis for out of pocket benefits costs, whether it be for medical, dental or vision premiums, or any other out of pocket medical expenses. This benefit is available, based on the outcome of annual voting of employees by group.
