- Provide and reinforce positive behavioral support, sometimes under extreme conditions, and provide the necessary guidance and mentoring to de-escalate behaviors.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Ensure the individual's safety and well-being during challenging moments.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including incident reports, progress notes, and daily logs.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personal information.
- Assist with personal hygiene activities, including bathing, toileting, incontinence, and grooming.
- Monitor and administer medications as prescribed.
- Accompany and support individuals on outings and community activities, such as shopping, dining, and recreational events.
- Assist with transportation and ensure safety during outings.
- Assist with household tasks, including meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping.
- Maintain a safe and organized living environment.
- Implement individualized support plans to promote personal growth and independence.
- Teach daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and communication.
- Other duties as needed based on the evolving business needs.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of client support needs and plans.
- Proficiency in healthcare software applications.
- Demonstrated fluency in the English language (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Patience, compassion, and a commitment to providing quality care.
- Ability to pass a background check in compliance with WAC 388-101D.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6 months of experience working with people who have developmental disabilities.
- Experience using de-escalation techniques (preferred).
- Experience working as RBT or para-educator (preferred).
- Reliable vehicle with auto insurance and a clean driving record.
- Completion of required training programs as specified by WAC 388-101D.
- Current certification as a Home Care Aide (HCA) or Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) as required by state regulations.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Medical, dental, and vision.
