Job OverviewWe are excited to announce an open position for a full‑time Office Assistant 3. This role serves as a frontline representative to internal and external stakeholders and promotes a positive image of the quality care we provide our residents at the historic Washington Soldiers Home. Expected work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Duties- Assist the nursing department with clerical duties and support nursing station during resident meals.
- Print MARS, TARS, and NAC Kardex; print and disperse medication admin audit report daily.
- Complete IT work orders, hospital transfer packets, and POC documentation audit report.
- Update nursing shift notes and schedules for residents' baths and vital signs daily.
- Notify staff via email of all changes in census beds.
- Stock all copiers, change toners, and order backups as needed.
- Serve as secondary backup to staffing coordinator and nursing payroll.
- Telework Statement:

- Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of clerical experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience with multiple phones, copier, and fax machines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and the English language.
- Prior medical records/health information experience.
- Medical terminology experience.
- HIPAA legislation regulation knowledge.
- Must pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening as per DVA policy 670.000.
- Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards.
- Must be able to push or pull with sufficient strength and walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner during the entire workday.
- Must successfully complete employee orientation and all mandatory annual, in‑service, and other required training.
- Must become familiar with and comply with all DVA policies, procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Must sign the confidentiality statement for all employees.
- Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
- Candidates must possess work authorization that does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
