We are excited to announce we now have an open position for a full-time Registered Nurse 2 for our evening shift! Apply today and deliver skilled and compassionate care to our nation's heroes at the Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington!

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, carry out, evaluate, and revise treatment plans based on observations and input from physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other nurses.
  • Pass medications, administer, monitor and record treatments, and assess resident condition (including skin assessment).
  • Suction patients, administer oxygen, perform catheterization irrigation, administer IV solutions, colostomy, and tracheostomy care; maintain gastric feeding tubes and pumps.
  • Assist with routine rehabilitative and maintenance care.
  • Report and record physical and psychosocial changes; document actions and findings in medical records.
  • Coordinate communication among the physician, social worker, psychologists, and practical nurses concerning nursing care and agency policies.
  • Promote resident participation in recreational activities.

Qualifications Required
  • Current Washington state registered nurse license or unencumbered registered nurse multistate license.
  • Proficient in English (read, write, speak).
Preferred
  • One year of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Long‑term care experience.
  • Ability to:
    • Provide a positive living environment for residents meeting psychosocial needs; follow written and verbal directions; document and report observed changes.
    • Earn trust, respect, and confidence of residents, coworkers, and customers through consistent professionalism and serve as a positive role model.
Special Requirements
  • Pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to starting and every two years.
  • Comply with annual Tuberculin Screening per DVA policy.
  • Maintain a valid RN license.
  • Medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required.
  • Be able to lift up to 60 lbs and reach a minimum of 36 inches.
  • Obtain and maintain CPR/BLS certification.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance; be willing to work as needed.
  • Complete mandatory training and orientation on schedule.
  • Comply with DVA policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Sign confidentiality statement.
  • Travel positions require valid unrestricted driver's license and insurance if driving privately.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
