Job Description

Objective of the Job
This is an industrial maintenance position responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of equipment throughout the Big River Steel Facility.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and "where applicable" Responsible Steel requirements are followed.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices are carried out in the job areas and grounds.
  • Troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, and repair overhead crane related HVAC equipment.
  • Install and/or modify mechanical and HVAC equipment following proper codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, and other specifications.
  • Assist operational personnel as needed for operational tasks that are needed to successfully support production.
  • Assist maintenance teams in need, in other departments across the mill when circumstances arise.
  • Qualifications
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot various HVAC systems.
  • Basic electrical experience.
  • Ability to use mechanical ingenuity and make decisions in a fast-paced production environment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge.
  • Reliable team player with good communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed.
  • Experience operating man-lifts, telehandlers, and other equipment.
  • Possess or able to obtain EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
  • Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
    This position works in the OHC department and associated areas throughout the facility, which are routinely in extreme environments with typical hours during the day. Accepting this position may result in working weekends, holidays and at night to support BRS goals. Ability to work long hours as well as coming in on short notice.
    Supervisory Responsibility
    This position does not supervise others normally but may oversee contractors and Jr. personnel.
