Position Overview

Reporting to the responsible Construction Manager, this role will support work within the DNNP Nuclear Island including the Reactor Building overall construction scope including containment, equipment, Reactor Pressure Vessel and interface with other areas. During the validation phase the Superintendent will assist in the construction planning and reviews. In execution they will be responsible for the supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction activities for multiple scopes of work in compliance with the contract and the job cost estimate and ensures all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship.

Location

The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON. The successful candidate will be local to Darlington, Oshawa or surrounding areas, or willing to relocate. The successful candidate will also be open to traveling and relocating for future projects.

Responsibilities
  • Supervising and leading a team of Boilermaker and Ironworkers.
  • Accountable for work planning and execution on the project including methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals and work schedules.
  • Ensure alignment and partnering with the alliance partners.
  • Monitor and review Plans/Schedules and identify risks, and issues.
  • Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for General Foreman.
  • Responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of safety, quality and human performance programs.
  • Ensures that policies and project procedures are being adhered to and followed by project personnel.
  • Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
  • Assume responsibility for productivity of direct hire trade labour and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and tools & equipment and contractual performance of the project.
  • Understanding and support of applicable trade agreements.
  • Application of home company discipline policies and appropriate escalation of performance concerns to Construction Manager.
  • Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements.
  • Review and provide support in the creation of Construction Work Packages.
  • Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Construction Work Packages and project schedule and budget.
  • Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
  • Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality.
  • Review and approve timesheets, expense reports, vacation requests and training requests, within Limits of Authority.
  • Responsible for performance management of all direct-report employees, including: coaching/mentoring, assistance with career planning and training, preparation of yearly and mid-year performance reviews.
