The seeks applications for a tenure-track position in the field of Assessment and Evaluation in Education at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position will begin between January 1, 2026-July 1, 2026 (start date to be negotiated). Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) focused on Assessment and Evaluation in Education by the start of the appointment. We encourage scholars with interests across the education continuum (, early childhood, K–12, postsecondary, and adult education) to apply.

Applicants with strong quantitative and/or mixed methods research skills are particularly welcome.

The Position

We are seeking a colleague with strong team-based skills and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning. This position is a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor; the job responsibilities reflect those described in the . The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the research culture of Ontario Tech through the development of an active research program that attracts research funding and cultivates exciting learning and training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.

Teaching assignments will include both on-campus and online courses; applicants will be expected to contribute to in-person, on-campus life at the downtown campus of Ontario Tech in Oshawa, ON and bring knowledge, experience, and expertise teaching in online learning environments. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the development and administration of the Faculty and University through active committee membership as part of their service commitments.

The Ideal Candidate

Ontario Tech seeks to appoint a scholar in the field of Assessment and Evaluation in Education. Research in the Frazer Faculty of Education is characterized by a strong focus on integrating technology in education, fostering interdisciplinary approaches to education, developing innovative approaches to assessment and evaluation (including those that foster community engagement for social change), and exploring innovative and rigorous measures of the impact of digital technologies (such as AI) on teaching and learning.

We seek applicants whose areas of interest contribute to and build on the strengths of our Faculty with research focused on (but not limited to) areas such as:

  • Innovative approaches to educational assessment ( classroom assessment in K-12 or higher education contexts)
  • Innovative approaches to program evaluation ( community and social program evaluation)
  • Technology-enhanced feedback, assessment and/or program evaluation (including data science, AI, AR/VR applications, digital assessment)
  • Developing equitable and inclusive assessment and evaluation processes that recognize diversity of learners
  • Non-traditional approaches to assessment and evaluation ( culturally responsive, community-engaged, arts-based, or experiential approaches)
  • Large-scale assessment and evaluation in the context of language assessment, educational equity, improvement, and/or advancement
