Teacher Assistant, Deaf Education – Placer County Office Of Education
Pay Range$23.40 per hour – $28.47 per hour (based on skills and experience)
ResponsibilitiesA Teacher Assistant – Deaf Education reports to the County Superintendent and works under the direct supervision of the designated manager(s). The assistant provides support to certified teachers or other staff in implementing the instructional program for students whose primary disability is deaf or hard of hearing.
Requirements / Qualifications- Must currently possess or obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment.
- If hired, must provide proof of a valid California Driver's License.
- Applicants may be tested. Screening of signing skills is required.
- Completion of 60 semester units (2 years of study) at an accredited institution of higher education.
- Possession of an Associate's Degree or higher.
- Passing a local assessment in Reading/Writing and Mathematics (to be conducted on the day of the interview). Math knowledge will consist of basic fractions, percentages, and word problems (equivalent to a high school requirement). Reading/Writing will consist of comprehension and proper language (equivalent to a high school requirement).
