Dean of the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities

Ontario Tech University is seeking a Dean to serve as the Chief Academic Officer for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH). The Dean will champion innovative programs, strengthen research and impact, increase student enrollment, and provide exceptional learning experiences for the entire faculty.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire academic strategy for the faculty, promoting interdisciplinary research and innovative teaching.
  • Develop and oversee program development, ensuring rigorous curriculum and high quality student outcomes.
  • Champion strategic enrollment management, driving growth and diversity in the student population.
  • Provide financial stewardship, managing the faculty budget and securing resources for research and student support.
  • Build and sustain internal and external partnerships with industry, community, government, and international institutions.
  • Advocate for the faculty nationally and internationally, elevating its profile and impact.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate and eligible for appointment at the rank of Full Professor.
  • Distinguished record of scholarly achievement and leadership within social sciences and/or humanities.
  • Substantial experience in program development, enrollment management and financial stewardship in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead successful research teams and inspire their impact.
  • Proven commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, accessibility and social justice.
  • Excellent communicator, relationship builder, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead through change, foster transparency, collaboration, and a high‑performing academic culture driven by relationships.
