The Frazer Faculty of Educationseeks applications for a teaching faculty position with knowledge and experience in Catholic Education at a rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. This position will begin onor around January 1, 2027 (start date to be negotiated). Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) bythe start of the appointment. The Frazer Faculty of Education is where leading-edge research, theory and practiceform strong foundations for the innovative design,development and implementation of curriculum and pedagogy.
The Frazer Faculty of Education has undergraduate programs (Bachelor of Education,Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies), and onlinegraduate programs(Master of Education, Master of Arts[Education], and Doctor of Education).The faculty is known for its technology-driven approach to education,including integrating digital technologies into classroompractice, encouraging the use of multiple forms of technology and digitalliteracy, preparing teachers and graduate students to be leadersinusingemerging technologies.
The Position
We are seeking a colleague with strong team-based skills and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning. This position is a teaching faculty appointment at the level of Assistant Teaching Professor; the job responsibilities reflect those described in the UOITFA Collective Agreement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate level students. Teaching assignments will include both on-campus and online courses.
The successful candidate must have had experience in teaching pre-service teacher candidates in the Catholic Education course required for Catholic school boards. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to in-person, on-campus life at the downtown campus of Ontario Tech University in Oshawa, Ontario and to bring knowledge, experience, and expertise teaching in online learning environments. An Assistant Teaching Professor is also expected to contribute to the development and administration of the Faculty and University through active committee membership as part of their service commitments.
Qualified candidates will have teaching and research background with experience in Catholic Education. The successful candidate must have had experience in teaching pre-service teacher candidates in the Catholic Education course required for Catholic school boards. Candidates must also demonstrate a track record of exce llence and innovation in teaching undergraduate (B.A./B.Ed.) and graduate (M.A./M.Ed./Doctoral) students in both face-to-face (i.e., physically co-located) and online formats.
In addition qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:
Strong understanding of, and background and experience in, teaching in online learning environments, including fully online synchronous, asynchronous, and blended modes
A thorough understanding of learning theories and pedagogy related to online and face-to-face learning
