Job Summary
The Program Assistant will provide administrative support, and contribute to strategies and processes that will further developcooperative education. Acting as a key liaison with the Academic Advisingdepartment, the Program Assistant will also advise and direct students on all program matters pertaining to the co‑op and internship program, as well as their academic program upon their return.

Responsibilities/accountabilities

Provide administrative support to co-op programming

Respond to general inquiries from students, faculty, staff, industry and community stakeholders

Facilitate submission of all work reports

Design surveys and facilitate coordination of meetings

Coordinate offsite employer and student placement visits

Program Promotion and Event Support

Assists with the creation and maintenance of promotional materials related to co-op

Market and promote student participation in employment related events such as job fairs and recruitment sessions

Participate in and support Open Houses and related institutional activities

Student Support

Provide guidance and support to students with regards to eligibility criteria for co‑op and internship programs, and providestrategies to ensure eligibility is met

Required Skills

Proficient in the use of MS Office applications such as MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, diplomacy and tact, professional and courteous

Attention to details, organization and good planning skills

Ability to work with integrity, independently and in team environment

Experience with event planning and promotional marketing is an asset

Excellent problem-solving skills

Required Knowledge

Expert knowledge and understanding of social media platforms

Required Education

Completion of a formal post-secondary program ofthree academic years

An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered

Required Experience

Over 1 year and including 3 years

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the university and the OPSEU.
