The Industrial Controls Technician will be deeply involved in modernizing the facility’s automation systems. From connecting machines and integrating sensors to supporting predictive maintenance and real-time production monitoring, this role helps transform traditional manufacturing into a smarter, more connected operation.
You will work alongside engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve equipment reliability, streamline processes, and introduce technologies that make the plant safer and more efficient.
Position Description
This position is responsible for keeping the facility’s automation and controls systems running at their best.
You will work with a range of industrial technologies including PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives, sensors, and industrial networks. The role combines hands-on troubleshooting with system improvement and integration projects.
Programming and troubleshooting PLC-based automation systemsSupporting human-machine interface systems used by plant operatorsMaintaining industrial control networks that allow machines to communicate and share dataSupporting plant monitoring platforms used to track equipment performanceMaintaining drives, instrumentation, and automated control systemsImplementing new technologies that enable connected manufacturing and predictive maintenanceMaintaining documentation, system diagrams, and control architecture recordsWorking closely with production and maintenance teams to identify opportunities for improvementThere may also be occasional travel to support related operations in the United States.
Experience
Experience working with industrial automation systems within a manufacturing environmentBackground in plastics processing, extrusion, or compounding manufacturing considered a strong advantageAutomation experience from other manufacturing sectors will also be consideredStrong troubleshooting ability with complex equipment and automated systemsDemonstrated interest in improving equipment reliability, performance, and process stabilityQualifications
Electrical Engineering degree preferredElectrical Engineering Technology diploma consideredIndustrial Electrician certification is considered a strong assetSeveral years of experience working with PLC-based automation systemsHands-on experience with Allen-Bradley platforms and industrial instrumentationExperience working with industrial networks and connected equipmentFamiliarity with SCADA platforms and production monitoring systemsStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple departmentsEducation
Electrical Engineering degree preferredElectrical Engineering Technology diploma consideredIndustrial Electrician certification is considered a strong asset
