What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
To provide engineering leadership and oversight of sublet engineering Design Service Providers (DSPs) in the execution of Aecon’s Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Projects. The Project Engineer ensures all constructability considerations are incorporated by the Design Service Provider.
Functional reporting on the project to the Project Manager/Director
Administrative reporting to the Engineering Manager
Technical, Process and Procedural support from the Engineering Manager
Functional Relations with various Aecon departments (e.g. Proposals, Sales and Business Development, Construction, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Legal, etc.).
What You'll Do Here:
Proposal Stage
May support proposal development for engineering services and engineered equipment if required by the Proposal Manager (depending on scope and complexity of Engineering or engineered equipment)
May prepare specifications to prospective DSP’s to establish scope, functional design, codes and standards, schedule and deliverables through preparation of a Aecon Technical Specification (ATS) or similar RFQ document based on Contract / Customer specifications as directed by the Proposal Manager.
Evaluate DSP bids as required and provide estimated execution cost and engineering manhours to the Proposal Manager for entry into the estimate.
For those proposals that involve engineered equipment, may coordinate conceptual engineering with the DSP as required and prepare RFQ’s to engineered equipment suppliers via Procurement as required by the Proposal Manager.
May help evaluate engineered equipment bids with the DSP as required with Proposal Management and Procurement.
Prepare engineering manhour estimates for internal Aecon engineering as required by the Proposal Manager.
Provide input to the proposal level risk assessment from an engineering perspective
Assist in proposal preparation as required by the Proposal Manager
