Electrical Engineer – Electric Drive Systems About the Role
As the Electrical Engineer for Electric Drive Systems, you will lead the design and integration of the power systems that drive our autonomous platforms. Rather than board-level design, your focus will be on the system-level electrical architecture: selecting high-performance components, designing complex wire harnesses, and ensuring seamless power delivery between our heavy-duty batteries and autonomous navigation sensors.
Key Responsibilities- Systems Integration:
Design and integrate complete electric drive systems, including high-torque BLDC motors, industrial motor controllers, and rugged actuators. - Power Distribution:
Architect and maintain power distribution units (PDUs) and Battery Management Systems (BMS) for our robotic platforms. - Harness Design:
Create detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for the entire robot, ensuring durability against vibration, moisture, and dust. - EMI/EMC Mitigation:
Implement shielding and grounding strategies to ensure reliable data from high-precision sensors (LiDAR, RTK-GNSS) in electrically noisy environments. - Hardware Bring-up:
Lead the physical assembly and "first-power-on" testing of new robot prototypes, ensuring all electrical subsystems communicate correctly over CAN bus. - Field Debugging:
Perform on-site electrical troubleshooting at farms and golf courses using diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes and CAN analyzers.
- Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline. - Experience:
2+ years of hands-on experience in systems-level electrical design for mobile robots, EVs, or industrial machinery. - Schematic Tools:
Proficiency in electrical documentation software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Solid Works Electrical, or similar) for wiring and system layouts. - Hardware Mastery:
Expert-level skills in wire harness assembly, connector crimping (Deutsch, Molex), and professional-grade soldering. - Safety Standards:
Strong understanding of fuse sizing, thermal management, and environmental protection (IP65/IP67 ratings).
- Protocols:
Deep experience with CAN bus (J1939/CANopen), RS232, and Ethernet communication. - Embedded Logic:
Familiarity with configuring motor controller parameters and basic firmware debugging (C/C++). Also, be familiar with Arduino or ESP
32 controller boards. - Robotics Integration:
Experience interfacing hardware with ROS-based industrial computers (Jetson, NUC). - Component Sourcing:
Ability to evaluate and select industrial-grade motors, batteries, and sensors from global vendors.
- Ownership:
You’ll be the go-to expert for the electrical health of our fleet. - Impact:
Build heavy-duty, zero-emission machinery that replaces traditional diesel equipment. - Innovation:
Work at the intersection of rugged outdoor hardware and cutting-edge autonomous software.
