The Transportation Market Leader Canada Central is a regional leadership role focused on driving strategy, vision, growth and performance across three provinces, and collaborating with partners across Canada, the United States and globally to support GHD’s market growth within the core businesses of rail and transit, highways, roads and bridges, ports and aviation from planning through to execution.
Responsibilities   Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Transportation Market across Canada Central, contributing to the broader Canadian Transportation strategy.
Lead business development efforts to drive growth in private, public and federal sectors, and develop proposals to support market growth and diversification.
Foster cross‑market collaboration to deliver complex, multi‑discipline projects and, where necessary, lead large‑scale initiatives as Project Director.
Provide strong client leadership on key Transportation accounts, ensuring successful outcomes and sustainable, profitable growth.
Drive innovation by integrating digital and advisory services, focusing on sustainability and efficiency.
Represent GHD at industry events, conferences and trade shows, enhancing brand presence.
Attract and develop talent to strengthen Transportation capabilities.
Maintain and grow relationships with existing and new clients, expanding GHD’s presence across Ontario, Canada and the Americas.
Use business intelligence tools such as Salesforce to develop a robust project pipeline, improve tender and proposal success rates, and manage risks and opportunities.
Champion an integrated market approach across all GHD service offerings.
Qualifications   Solid background in Engineering, Transportation, Planning or a related field.
At least 10 years of experience leading transportation projects and teams.
Proven experience in developing and operationalizing successful corporate strategies for the transportation market.
Deep understanding of Central Canada’s transportation market, including trends, future challenges and opportunities.
Broad technical delivery experience across rail and transit, highways, roads and bridges.
Strong industry connections across key agencies such as Metrolinx, MTO, IO and major municipalities and transit agencies.
Industry knowledge within Port and Airport Authorities, and/or Class1 Rail is preferred but not required.
Outstanding leadership and communication skills, with experience managing teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Commercial acumen with a focus on client relationships, growth and service excellence.
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and thought leadership within the transportation sector.
Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM software is a plus.
Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and the Americas.
Performance Expectations   Achieve sustainable, profitable growth of the Canada Central Transportation market revenue and pipeline.
Drive service and market diversification of offering across existing and emergent business lines.
Develop a strong project pipeline using Salesforce and other business‑intelligence tools.
Manage risks and opportunities in the market, ensuring strategic recruitment and talent development.
Improve tender and proposal success rates and ensure effective budget management.
