Panel Designer
We are seeking an experienced Panel Designer to provide accurate and competitive engineered wood product (EWP) designs while delivering exceptional customer service and technical support. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting residential projects involving the design, analysis, and detailing of engineered floor and wall panel systems.
Responsibilities- Read, interpret, and analyze residential construction blueprints while identifying potential errors or design issues.
- Produce accurate floor and wall take‑offs, layouts, load development, and beam designs using CAD and industry-specific software while maximizing design and material efficiency.
- Develop 3D models and layouts for residential construction projects.
- Create engineered floor and wall panel layouts for construction, permit applications, and costing purposes.
- Detail wood structural connections and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Understand and adhere to client design standards and specifications.
- Communicate effectively with engineers, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders regarding design details and materials.
- Audit and review designs prior to release to production to ensure quality and eliminate deficiencies.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience within the Engineered Wood Product (EWP), construction, or light‑frame wood truss industries.
- Extensive experience in engineered wood design, including wall and floor panels and related accessories.
- Strong knowledge of wood I‑joists and structural composite wood products.
- Proficiency with industry software such as Mitek, AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, and related design platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Comprehensive understanding of residential wood‑frame construction processes, including single‑family and multi‑family projects.
- Strong knowledge of National, Canadian, and local building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent mathematical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
