Semiconductor Manufacturing Process Engineer
Vue Real is a Waterloo-based semiconductor technology company developing next-generation microLED displays, sensors and optoelectronic applications using our proprietary Micro Solid Printing™ platform. We bring advanced device technologies from development into scalable manufacturing.
Join a collaborative team where your hands‑on engineering expertise can make a direct impact on fab performance, product quality and manufacturing scale-up.
Your Opportunity at Vue Real:We're looking for a hands‑on Semiconductor Process Engineer with strong photolithography experience and the versatility to support multiple fab processes. You'll own and improve lithography processes, troubleshoot equipment, increase yield and partner with R&D and Operations to bring new processes into repeatable production.
YOUR Day-to-day Responsibilities:- Operate, troubleshoot and optimize photolithography equipment, including spin coaters, mask aligners and/or maskless exposure systems, as applicable.
- Support daily fab operations to meet production throughput, quality and yield targets.
- Develop, qualify and optimize photoresist coating, exposure, development and pattern‑transfer processes.
- Monitor critical process parameters using SPC, DOE and capability metrics, targeting Cpk ≥ 1.33 where applicable.
- Identify root causes of defects and lead corrective actions to improve yield, repeatability and process stability.
- Develop and deliver lithography yield‑improvement initiatives with clear milestones and measurable outcomes.
- Integrate lithography with upstream and downstream processes, working with wet processing, deposition, etch and metrology teams.
- Support equipment qualification, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and recovery after tool downtime.
- Support NPI and R&D-to-manufacturing transfer, including new processes, materials and equipment evaluation.
- Maintain clear process recipes, SOPs, work instructions and production documentation.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams while maintaining cleanroom safety and process‑control standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and practical experience.
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on photolithography or semiconductor process engineering experience, preferably in a production cleanroom.
- Experience operating, troubleshooting and optimizing lithography equipment and photoresist coating, exposure and development processes.
- Experience developing, maintaining or qualifying semiconductor manufacturing recipes and resolving process issues.
- Strong knowledge of cleanroom safety, SPC, DOE and data‑driven process optimization.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple fab modules and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Hands‑on experience with at least one additional fab process: PVD/sputtering, wet etching/cleaning, RIE/ICP, PECVD or other deposition processes.
- Experience in equipment qualification, process integration, metrology or yield improvement.
- Experience using manufacturing execution systems (MES) and statistical process capability analysis.
- Experience supporting NPI, production ramp‑up or technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
- Exposure to microLED, MEMS, photonics, optoelectronics, DUV, maskless or nanoimprint lithography.
- Collaborative, innovative team where your practical engineering ideas can make a difference.
- Opportunities to work across semiconductor tools, processes and technologies.
- Hands‑on involvement in process development and manufacturing scale‑up.
- Paid vacation.
- Sick, personal and paid parental leave, subject to company policy.
- Employee benefits…
