This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 22 September 2026 and closing at 11:59 pm on 29 September 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the MLA Team Lead, Charge Technologist(s) or Manager, the Phlebotomist is responsible for performing duties including: collecting blood samples, performing ECG's, following proper blood collection techniques as outlined in the phlebotomy manual; ensuring correct patient identification prior to collecting and accurately labelling the samples; transporting of specimens to the laboratory for testing; reporting immediately, any unusual incidents involving patients which occur in the performance of duties;

following established safety and infection control procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate from a recognized training facility (in good standing);

MLPAO (OSMT) and/or CSMLS Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician (MLA/T) certification required;

Recent phlebotomy experience in a hospital or medical laboratory setting;

Proven effective organizational, prioritization and time-management abilities;

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills;

Proven strong team player abilities with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;

Knowledge of infection control principles and practices;

Physically able to perform duties of lifting, bending, sitting and prolonged standing and walking;

Ability to work in a high paced environment with frequent interruptions;

Proven computer/keyboarding experience;

Experience with pneumatic tube transport systems, an asset; and

Must have satisfactory performance record;
