Join Ontario Tech University as a Machinist Technician in Oshawa, Ontario. This full-time role is pivotal in providing support to engineering students and faculty through effective technical guidance.
As a Machinist Technician, you will be responsible for the comprehensive operation and maintenance of the Engineering Machine Shop and Innovation Studio. Your duties will include ensuring machinery safety, overseeing the setup and operation of CNC machines, and assisting with the fabrication of lab equipment. Additionally, you will help students navigate their projects while adhering to best practices in machining and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead maintenance and operation of machine shop equipment
• Assist in design and fabrication of prototypes
• Supervise and train students during lab sessions
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols
• Organize workshops and demonstrations
Requirements:
• 3-5 years CNC programming experience
• Relevant post-secondary education
• Strong technical skills and safety commitment
• Hands-on machining and prototyping expertise
• Effective problem-solving and interpersonal skills
