Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Plating Supervisor is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of duties and responsibilities as outlined below in accordance with AGS' cultural priorities. The duties and responsibilities listed below are not meant to be all-encompassing. As business needs change, this list may be adapted. It is expected that the incumbent will participate in meetings, on teams and projects to collectively achieve our priorities.

Responsibilities

Supervise a staff employed in the department's function relative to the company's chrome plating manufacturing process, in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements for a safe working environment.

Plan, assign, and direct shift staff and activities for safe work practices to meet production demands. Manage performance issues, identify training needs, and arrange for upgrading.

Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, plant rules, and legislative obligations. Carry out timely disciplinary processes and resolve complaints and problems.

Administer the collective agreement and company policies as they apply to activities on shift. Develop good working relationships with union and safety representatives, respond to their concerns, and resolve disputes including grievances.

Ensure accurate and timely records and documentation are maintained.

Attend meetings as required.

Supervise laboratory activities.

Review and analyze production plans, logs, testing results, quality assurance data, resource and equipment status, and manpower requirements for the effective management of a chrome plating process.

Schedule and assign shift activities to achieve optimum process demands. Monitor conformance to formulas, standards, specifications, limitations and quality control, make adjustments as necessary.

Coordinate shift activities for the analysis and testing of substances to support investigations, to detect toxins, or to verify the composition of manufactured products and natural resources such as air, soil, water. Perform calculations to maintain chemical process controls. Interpret laboratory results and communicate information to the appropriate staff.

Identify the root cause of problems and implement, or work with others to implement corrective action.

Maintain awareness of manufacturing objectives, changes, programs, and experience. Make recommendations to improve process methods, equipment performance, quality control, and working conditions.

Take immediate action in emergency situations, protecting people and plant, and minimizing financial consequences.

Contribute to decision-making processes and keep management informed.
