Role Description The Color Specialist is a full-time, on-site role located in Whitby, ON, focused on developing, matching, and adjusting wood coating colors to meet customer and product specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include mixing and testing color formulas, performing color matching using samples and reference materials, and documenting formulations and adjustments for repeatable results. The role involves collaborating with sales and production teams to understand project requirements, providing color recommendations, and ensuring that finished coatings meet quality and consistency standards.
The Color Specialist will also support customers and internal stakeholders with clear communication on color options, troubleshooting color issues, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace in accordance with company policies and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of Color Theory and practical experience with color formulation and adjustment.
Proficiency in Color Matching, including working with samples, swatches, and digital or instrument-based color tools.
Effective Communication and Customer Service skills to support internal teams and external clients.
Experience with Hair Coloring or other color application fields is an asset, demonstrating precision and attention to detail in color work.
Background in coatings, paints, woodworking, or related manufacturing environments is beneficial.
Ability to work on-site full time in Whitby, ON, and collaborate in a team-based production setting.
Strong observation skills, manual dexterity, and comfort with handling chemicals and materials in accordance with safety procedures.
Secondary school diploma required; additional technical training in color science, coatings, or related disciplines is an advantage.
