Duties and Responsibilities
As an integral member of the Nephrology Program, the Registered Nurse is highly skilled and responsible for supporting a system that delivers person‑centred, safe and effective kidney care services in an efficient, equitable and timely manner. The successful candidate will be responsive to staffing needs within in‑center hemodialysis at Oshawa, Whitby and Lakeridge Gardens. The RN will provide excellence in patient care, maintain competency and professionalism relevant to dialysis practice, and work collaboratively in an interprofessional nephrology team.
Qualifications
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing)
Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO
Current B.C.L.S.
BScN preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience providing care for renal patients in acute care settings (emergency department, acute inpatient units, critical care)
Minimum 6 months recent hemodialysis experience
Nephrology Nursing certificate preferred or evidence of enrollment or progression toward completion
Familiar and comfortable with electronic documentation
Level 2 training to provide treatment to patients 1:1 that are acute hospitalized inpatients, patients admitted in the emergency department or admitted in the critical care department
Good organizational, interpersonal, communication and problem‑solving, prioritization, and teaching skills
Ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations
Proven ability to perform a leadership/preceptorship role
Physically capable of lifting, turning, and transferring patients manually or with mechanical aids
Satisfactory performance record
Commitment to Lakeridge Health's safety programs and participation in regular in‑service education

Conditions of Employment
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).
Successful external applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the last six months.
