Location  Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Directly serving a growing population of more than 60,000 residents across urban and rural settings, NHH directly employs approximately 750 people and relies on a supportive network of physicians, midwives and volunteers.

Role Overview  The successful incumbent will meet the requirements of the position description for Registered Nurse—Emergency and act as a contributing team member with responsibility for professional nursing care to a patient or group of patients as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements   Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
Coronary Care 1
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or commitment to obtain within 12 months
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or commitment to obtain within 18 months
Current Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) or commitment to obtain certification within 2 years
Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training or commitment to obtain within 6 months
Critical Care or Emergency Room Certification or commitment to obtain certification within 2 years
OHA Triage Training if qualified; or commitment to complete Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification when requested
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Certification preferred
Canadian Nurses Association (CNA):
Emergency Nursing Certification (ENC) preferred
Experience caring for Mental Health Patients preferred
Demonstrated ability to interpret cardiac rhythm strips (tested prior to movement to cardiac monitored area)
Demonstrated commitment to interprofessional practice standards
Professional and respectful attitude to patients, public, volunteers and colleagues; fosters positive working relationships and collaborative problem solving
Proven good attendance with the ability to maintain this standard
Physical Effort and Working Conditions   Ability to prioritize workload and effectively respond to many simultaneous demands from patients, families, staff, physicians, and other programs and departments
Intense visual concentration for processing orders, medication administration, and interpreting electronic monitoring equipment
Physical ability to lift, push, carry, reach, and support patients with assistance as required; ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform repetitive bending
Adheres to safe and healthy workplace practices; maintains a safe environment through attendance at educational programs and adherence to health and safety policies
Understanding of compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Infection Prevention and Control practices
Employment Requirements  Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check completed within the last year, to be met within the first 60 days of employment. Applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process, including providing an up-to-date immunization record within the first 30 days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital maintains a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
