Our hourly range for this role is $26 - $29/hr, reflecting the anticipated base hourly rate for a fully qualified candidate at the time of posting. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Technician is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the facility's quality control plan. This role combines hands-on physical inspection, precision tool calibration, and basic data analysis to ensure all incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods meet quality standards. This is a floor-heavy position requiring the technician to work closely with manufacturing operations to identify defects, perform root-cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Inspection & Verification

  • Incoming:
    Perform inspections and required tests on incoming raw materials to determine conformance to specifications; compile evidence data to support initiating supplier Corrective Action Reports (CAR).
  • In-Process:
    Audit and monitor active production lines, verify that processing variables meet requirements, and support production teams to address quality issues promptly.
  • Finished Products:
    Carry out final product tests, review daily line reports to ensure all non-conformances are recorded, and generate Certificates of Quality (CQ).
  • Claims:
    Handle and inspect claimed/returned products, assist in identifying root causes, and track corrective actions.
  • 2. Gauge Calibration & Troubleshooting

  • Calibrate measuring devices, electronics, and mechanical gauges on schedule to maintain tracking compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faulty gauges or measuring tools to ensure zero defective devices are used on the production floor.
  • 3. Data Collection & Statistical Analysis

  • Collect, record, and analyze quality data using basic statistical methods, specifically tracking distributions and utilizing linear regression.
  • Maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) records to identify process drift and concerning trends before they result in scrap material.
  • 4. Root Cause & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in structured root-cause analysis investigations to resolve floor non-conformities and quality defects.
  • Track open internal and supplier corrective actions through to completion, verifying their long-term effectiveness.
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing plant waste and optimizing yields.
  • 5. Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment by following all workplace Health & Safety procedures.
  • Follow established Integrated Management System (IMS) and ISO guidelines to reduce environmental impacts.
  • Job Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:

    Minimum of a 2 or 3-year Technical Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution. Open to any technical or engineering discipline.
  • Experience:

    Preferred 1-2 years of experience working directly within a manufacturing environment (experience within a dedicated Quality department is highly preferred).
  • Technical

    Skills:

  • Proficient with MS Office applications, with particular emphasis on MS Excel for recording and charting quality metrics.
  • Practical understanding of basic mathematics, foundational statistics, and a working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, engineering drawings, or blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of ISO management systems frameworks.
