Apply Ontario Building Code expertise as a Senior Building Inspector with the Town of Whitby in a Mobile Hybrid work model. Inspect buildings and resolve compliance issues across Whitby.
Reporting to the Supervisor of Building Inspections, you will perform legislated inspections for Part 9 and Part 3 buildings. The position requires analytical reasoning, communication, and relationship-building skills. You will support compliance with applicable laws, Town by-laws, and the Ontario Building Code.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Part 9, Part 3, and general building inspections
Coordinate approvals from departments and outside agencies
Investigate unsafe conditions involving damage or hazardous events
Issue compliance orders under the Building Act Code
Maintain accurate inspection files and records
Requirements:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in architecture or related discipline
Knowledge of Ontario Building Code Parts 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11
Minimum three years of directly related experience
Working at Heights certification and required Ontario Building Code qualifications
Valid Ontario Class G licence and basic Microsoft Office proficiency
Bring inspection, code compliance, analytical, and communication expertise to support safe building practices throughout Whitby.
