We are a busy First Nation, with many capital projects and opportunities ahead. The community and workplace are led by an elected Council of 5 (a Chief and four Councillors) and a Senior Management Team led by the First Nation Manager and including Managers from Operations, Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Health and Social Services. Duties  Reporting to the Social Services Supervisor, the Community Wellness Worker supports the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of MSIFN members, families, and the community through culturally grounded, prevention-focused, and community-based programs and services. The position promotes holistic wellness by addressing the social, emotional, mental, physical, and cultural factors that contribute to individual, family, and community wellbeing. Working collaboratively within the Health & Social Services team, the role develops, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates wellness initiatives while providing outreach, education, advocacy, referrals, service navigation, and community engagement.
Plan, coordinate, and deliver culturally grounded wellness programs that support healthy living, family wellbeing, and community safety.
Work collaboratively with the Cultural Advisor to integrate traditional teachings, cultural practices, gatherings, and ceremonies into wellness programming where appropriate.
Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate prevention-based strategies that support healthy family dynamics and reduce risks related to family and community violence.
Collaborate with the First Nation Child Welfare Representative, Post Majority and Prevention Worker, and other internal and external partners to develop and deliver culturally grounded prevention strategies, coordinate services, facilitate referrals, and strengthen supports for families at risk of child welfare involvement.
Assist individuals and families in identifying wellness‑related concerns, strengths, needs, and goals and support the development of personalized wellness plans that are realistic, achievable, culturally respectful, and responsive to identified needs.
Plan and implement community wellness events, workshops, sharing circles, outreach activities, awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, healing circles, parenting supports, community gatherings, wellness outings, healthy living initiatives, and other prevention‑focused activities.
