Development Tester - On Call

Intermediate Development QA Tester (Gameplay / Systems)

XQA is expanding our Development QA talent pool and is currently seeking Intermediate QA Testers (2+ years experience) with a strong gameplay and systems background.

This role is ideal for testers who enjoy working early in development, validating combat mechanics, AI behavior, RPG progression systems, and overall player experience across PC/console and mobile platforms.

• Manual and exploratory testing of gameplay systems including combat, abilities, buffs/debuffs, and real-time player vs AI interactions
• Validating enemy behavior, encounters, level flow, collisions, triggers, and navigation
• Testing RPG mechanics such as progression, upgrades, loadouts, and stat configuration
• Verifying UI/UX, HUD elements, controls, and gameplay feel across multiple input methods
• Performing gameplay testing on mobile (iOS/Android) as well as traditional platforms
• Executing regression and integration testing across interconnected features
• Writing clear, structured bug reports in JIRA and maintaining organized test documentation
• Collaborating closely with designers and engineers to validate fixes and provide actionable feedback

• 2+ years QA experience on systems-heavy or combat-focused games (RPG/Strategy preferred)
• Hands‑on experience testing gameplay systems (combat, controls, AI, levels)
• Professional experience testing mobile games or gameplay systems (iOS/Android)
• Understanding of player experience, balance, and systemic interactions
• Experience creating structured test plans and coverage documentation
• Comfortable working with evolving or prototype features
• Passion for action‑oriented or RPG gameplay

• Execute manual and exploratory testing across gameplay systems including combat, character abilities, AI behavior, and level functionality
• Validate RPG mechanics such as progression, upgrades, loadouts, and stat configurations to ensure consistency and balance
• Test UI/UX, HUD elements, menus, and input responsiveness across PC/console and mobile platforms (iOS/Android)
• Identify, reproduce, and clearly document bugs and gameplay issues using JIRA or similar tracking tools
• Support regression and integration testing to verify fixes and maintain overall game stability
• Follow test plans and contribute to test case creation for evolving gameplay features
• Communicate findings clearly and respectfully with designers, engineers, and QA teammates
• Proactively explore new features and provide thoughtful feedback on gameplay feel and player experience
• Maintain organized test documentation and contribute to QA coverage as systems evolve

• 1–3 years experience in game Dev QA or a related testing role
• Comfortable working up close with Developers to give precise and accurate feedback on features and issues.
• Hands‑on experience testing gameplay systems such as combat, controls, AI, or level flow
• Familiarity with bug tracking tools (JIRA preferred) and basic QA workflows
• Experience testing on mobile platforms (iOS/Android) is a strong asset
• Basic understanding of game design principles including player experience and balance
• Comfortable working with early or changing features in a development environment
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to describe issues clearly and concisely
• Reliable, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn within a collaborative team
• Passion for video games, especially action‑oriented or RPG titles
