Overview

Safety Specialists work closely with field staff, clients and subcontractors, all levels of management, and personnel from external organizations during all phases of electric construction projects. Safety Specialists must be committed to ensuring adherence to safety-related policies, procedures, and regulations while developing positive professional relationships. The position is location-based, encompassing worksites throughout the assigned project area, and requires varying amounts of travel.

Responsibilities
  • Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions.
  • Coordinate with Operations teams to create site-specific safety plans and actively participate in safety meetings.
  • Participate in project kick‑off and progress meetings.
  • Support client‑specific safety requirement programs and ensure alignment with client expectations, company rules, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational health and safety.
  • Coach and mentor project site personnel regarding safety practices and behaviors on an ongoing basis.
  • Conduct proactive, behavior‑based and quality‑focused field safety observations and PPE hazard assessments.
  • Partner with Safety, Safety Training & Operations teams to schedule or facilitate required employee trainings.
  • Conduct accident/injury investigations, including root cause analyses.
  • Provide support to Operations for incident case management and documentation.
  • Follow‑up with Operations to ensure completion of corrective actions for all accidents and incidents.
  • Support company safety committees by assisting in assessment of safety performance trends and implementing process and tool improvements.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety field roles.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 safety certification preferred (e.g., CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, CSP).
  • Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or related field preferred; experience and education considered in lieu of degree.
Skills and Abilities
  • Problem‑solving and situation analysis skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence behavior.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and industry‑related safety regulations.
  • Team player able to work with coworkers, different departments, and outside contacts.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently.
  • Basic understanding of electric construction project management practices and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel for job site visits for extended periods.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary $68,000 – $80,000 per year (commensurate with experience).

  • Supplemental vision, dental (100% employer paid), life and accidental death & dismemberment coverage, employee assistance plan, 401(k) with 100% company match up to 6%.
  • Paid time off starting at 5 days annually plus 10 paid holidays.

This position will remain posted for a minimum of three days and automatically extend until the vacancy is filled.
