Ready to turn your engineering degree into projects people use every day?
The City of Oshkosh is seeking an entry-level or early-career Civil Engineer to help design, improve, and maintain the infrastructure that keeps our community moving—streets, stormwater systems, water mains, sanitary sewers, and more. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and entry-level engineers who want meaningful, hands-on public-sector experience.
What You’ll Do:As part of our Engineering team, you will help deliver visible, community-focused public works and utility projects from design through construction. You will:
- Assist with the design of streets, roadways, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains, drainage improvements, and other municipal infrastructure.
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and technical drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Serve as a project engineer on capital improvement and utility projects, supporting construction administration, contractor coordination, pay estimates, change orders, and project documentation.
- Review private-development site plans and stormwater reports for compliance with City standards, Municipal Code requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with residents, contractors, consultants, utility providers, City departments, and regulatory agencies.
- Support stormwater utility operations, customer inquiries, billing-related reviews, and engineering records management.
- Conduct occasional field visits and site inspections to see your work take shape.
This role offers more than a desk and a design screen. You will gain practical experience across transportation, stormwater, water distribution, and sanitary sewer collection while working alongside experienced public works professionals.
At the City of Oshkosh, your work will directly support safe streets, reliable utilities, resilient infrastructure, and a high quality of life for the community.
What We’re Looking For- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.

- Familiarity with—or interest in learning—AutoCAD Civil 3D.

- Ability to apply sound engineering judgment in both office and field settings.
- Valid driver’s license.
