Position Summary

The Metal Finisher is responsible for grinding, sanding, cleaning and polishing hollow metal frames to correct defects or prepare surfaces for further finishing. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow precise measurements and specifications and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Essential Functions

• Grind, sand, clean or polish objects or parts to correct defects or prepare surfaces for finishing using hand and power tools.
• Select appropriate abrasives and tools based on materials, sizes, shapes and finishing requirements.
• Measure and mark parts to ensure grinding and polishing meet specifications and standards.
• Inspect and verify quality of finished work using measuring tools, templates, or operational testing.
• Sharpen and maintain power tools.
• File, shape and smooth grooved or irregular surfaces of metal objects according to blueprints and templates.
• Hammer out bulges or bends in metal work pieces as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of related work experience preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to frequently lift 25-50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Valid driver’s license required.
