Construction Instrumentation Technician - Traveling Position

CR Meyer is seeking a Construction Instrumentation Technician to contribute to the overall success of the company and its customers through the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical instruments, components, and equipment in heavy industrial settings. The role requires a strong focus on workmanship while prioritizing safety and aligning work with CR Meyer values.

Responsibilities
  • Installs, tests, maintains and diagnoses electrical instruments including, but not limited to: pressure sensors and transmitters, temperature sensors, flow meters, level sensors, pH meters, conductivity sensors, vibration sensors, control valves, etc.
  • Installs electrical components such as actuators and control panels in heavy industrial and manufacturing settings.
  • Ensures instruments are properly calibrated in relation to pressure, temperature, flow and voltage.
  • Diagnoses and resolves concerns with existing systems to keep them operating properly.
  • Conducts tests to confirm systems meet construction standards, performance expectations and safety guidelines.
  • Works with engineers and other parties to ensure instruments operate properly as part of a larger automated control system.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and competence related to the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Reads, interprets and ensures that work is compliant with approved construction drawings, piping/instrumentation diagrams, documents and machinery manufacturers specifications. Asks questions when unsure of requirements prior to commencing work.
  • Complaints with all CR Meyer and owner safety guidelines. Positively promotes safety to others. Reports concerns to Safety Coordinator and/or supervisor. Has the authority to stop work in cases of imminent danger.
  • Maintains up-to-date training, knowledge of and compliance with all related safety subjects, including but not limited to: NFPA 70E Awareness, PPE, power tool safety, Haz Com, lock-out/tag-out, confined space, fall protection, powered industrial vehicles, jobsite housekeeping standards, etc.
  • Maintains professional credentials.
  • Safely operates hand and power tools and maintains them in proper working order.
  • Works cooperatively with other trades and conducts self in a professional manner with customers, subcontractors, coworkers and all other parties.
  • Leads by personal example and is a strong advocate for the CR Meyer Mission‑Vision‑Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Participates in all assigned CR Meyer safety training courses in a positive, proactive manner.
  • Wears all assigned PPE and observes CR Meyer safety guidelines at all times.
  • Due to project deadlines and demands, regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Completes all related paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Represents the CR Meyer brand in a positive, professional manner at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Five to seven years of journeyman level experience in installing and servicing electrical instrumentation with an emphasis in heavy industrial construction.
  • Ability to complete all CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety guidelines required.
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, insurable driving history and ability to operate a motor vehicle following all traffic laws and safe, courteous driving habits.
  • Ability to travel to various project sites within the United States required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States, without employer sponsorship.
  • All work is performed on an active construction site which will require the worker to wear company‑required PPE to protect from environmental factors. Compliance with safety requirements is a condition of employment.
  • Majority of work is performed outdoors and indoors at construction sites that will require appropriate dress for the weather and PPE. Occasional work in an office setting.
  • Requires the ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push/pull/grasp, talk, hear, see and perform repetitive motions on a routine basis.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a routine basis or more with assistance and/or mechanical means.
