• Work with the driver to ensure the safety of the students riding the bus.
• Help seat and greet students as they enter the bus in the morning and afternoon.
• Maintain discipline with the students while they are on the bus and assist in reports of misbehavior.
• Administer first aid for minor injuries in accordance with district, state and federal requirements.
• Assess potential emergency situations and take appropriate action to protect the well‑being of passengers.
• Assist the bus driver in cleaning/sanitizing the interior of buses to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
• Assist the bus driver in maintaining order and discipline on the bus to ensure the safety and well‑being of students.
• Assist in conducting emergency evacuation drills to ensure procedure efficiency and compliance with mandated requirements.
• Assist in providing first aid to students, including use of EPI‑Pen for physical care during transport.
• Assist special education students with special needs during transport, safe ingress and egress from buses, including in emergency situations and normal transport.
• Implement intervention strategies and perform direct behavior management services to maintain order and discipline on the school bus.
• Instruct special education students and other passengers to enforce rules and regulations and maintain safety.
• Lift students and/or equipment to position or reposition students as appropriate.
• Monitor student behavior to diffuse situations and/or prevent distraction to the driver or injury to themselves or other passengers.
• Prepare written materials (e.g. referrals, incident reports, student count, passenger misconduct) for documentation and reference.
• Report observations and incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior) to appropriate personnel.
• Secure students and/or equipment (e.g. wheelchairs, car seats, restraints, seat belts) to ensure safety and welfare of students.
