You will assess patients  conditions, monitor vital signs, and implement appropriate interventions to support a healthy labor process. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of maternal-fetal nursing and exceptional communication skills to establish trust with patients and families. As needed (25% pay increase incentive)

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to expectant mothers during prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
• Monitor and assess patient vital signs and fetal heart tones to ensure the well-being of mothers and newborns.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare team members for each patient.
• Educate patients and their families about labor, delivery, and postpartum care processes to promote informed decision-making.
• Assist in delivery and provide emotional and physical support for mothers during labor.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
• Document patient care activities and outcomes accurately in medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Recognize abnormal labor situations and take appropriate action per departmental protocol.
• Perform accurate vaginal exams, call physicians for delivery at the appropriate time, and interpret fetal monitor tracings.

• A graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa (or eligible to work as an RN in Iowa).
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification by the American Heart Association.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification within one year of hire.
• Birthing Center orientation under supervision of a preceptor, covering vaginal labor/delivery, cesarean sections, postpartum, and newborn care. Timing based on learning needs.
• Proof of completing Mandatory Reporter course at time of hire or within 6 months of start date.
• Must adhere to training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards.
• Understand and comply with MHP s Compliance Program, including Code of Conduct, Compliance Policy, and related policies.
• Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by Practice policy and supervision.
