Position: RN, LPN, or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - ENT

Join to apply for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) role at Mahaska Health.

At Mahaska Health, we are excited to announce an open position for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our dedicated ENT (Ears, Nose, and Throat) team. The primary role of the CMA is to deliver patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in collaboration with providers. The CMA also guides patient teaching and assists healthcare providers, maintaining professional nursing standards according to Mahaska Health policies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties within scope of practice and clinic policy.
  • Assess and document patients' physical, psychological, and social conditions.
  • Assist with office procedures and prepare for them.
  • Establish treatment priorities based on diagnoses.
  • Document nursing interventions and patient responses.
  • Administer medications as directed by the provider.
  • Report adverse effects of medications.
  • Document immunizations and medications accurately.
  • Perform procedures such as injections, immunizations, phlebotomy, EKGs, and vision screening.
  • Make referrals to other providers as directed.
  • Manage phone calls and test result communications efficiently.
  • Use Electronic Medical Record system according to guidelines.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medication stock.
  • Provide patient and family education appropriate to their understanding.
  • Organize workload to ensure timely patient care.
Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant program and certified in Iowa, OR
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program and licensed as an LPN in Iowa, OR
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and data security measures.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
