Production Planning Engineer

Purpose

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining manufacturing planning and process information to support robust, repeatable manufacturing operations. The role ensures effective works order sequencing, work centre performance and manufacturing process control while supporting continuous improvement across production activities.

• Create and maintain Manufacturing Information Sheets, route cards, Bills of Materials (BoMs), planning structures and manufacturing specifications in line with company standards.
• Use the Evolution MRP system to create and maintain routings and BoMs.
• Define material requirements, process parameters and suitable manufacturing methods.
• Identify, specify and implement required tooling and equipment.
• Create test specifications and support the manufacture and rework of composite test samples where required.
• Develop manufacturing processes to achieve stable production performance while meeting design intent and product specifications.
• Support engineering change control and design review activities.
• Assist Production and Quality teams in resolving manufacturing issues, non-conformances and process challenges.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve product quality, process efficiency, build cycles and waste reduction.
• Deliver training and guidance on manufacturing processes, applications and specifications.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications and related documentation.
• Good understanding of manufacturing materials, systems and processes, particularly composites.
• Knowledge of manufacturing process development and production planning.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Degree in Engineering, Science, Business or a related discipline desirable.
• Previous experience using an MRP system is essential.
• Experience with in a manufacturing or engineering environment is advantageous.

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods.
• Ability to interpret engineering, scientific and technical information.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently within defined objectives.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to present technical and operational data effectively.
