As a member of the Office of the Auditor General’s management team, the Deputy Auditor General is responsible and accountable to the Auditor General for providing leadership and managing individual audits and investigations assigned from the annual audit work plan and as they arise through Fraud and Waste Hotline complaints. The Deputy Auditor General assists the Auditor General with the overall management and administration of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG).

You will manage OAG staff teams and consultants to carry out and deliver compliance, financial and performance audits with the objective of providing assurances and information to Council and improving the City’s operations. You also have key responsibilities for contributing to continuous improvement of the effectiveness of the audit function. The Deputy Auditor General manages the day-to-day operations of a team of OAG staff, including organization structure and job design, and manages the relevant financial and human resources.

The ideal candidate holds a university degree, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation and at least ten (10) years of related experience. Municipal, provincial and/or federal government auditing environment is considered an asset. You have extensive senior level experience in auditing principles, practices, and standards through your work with large and complex organizations. Your credentials include a reputation for integrity, effective leadership, communication, and a collaborative problem-solving style.

You have a highly developed analytical and business planning skills and reputation for delivering results. Committed to raising the bar for performance, you understand the challenges of leading audits in a complex, multi-stakeholder, multi-union environment. Fluency in both of Canada’s official languages is an asset.
