Role Description

The Financial Controller is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Ottawa, ON, responsible for overseeing the EFC’s financial operations and ensuring accurate, timely reporting. Day‑to‑day tasks include preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing the general ledger, supervising accounting processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and policies. The role involves budgeting and forecasting, monitoring cash flow, analyzing financial performance, and providing insights to leadership to support strategic decision‑making.

The Financial Controller will also coordinate audits, maintain internal controls, manage financial risk, and work collaboratively with other team members and external partners. This position contributes directly to the stewardship of organizational resources in support of the EFC’s mission.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in Accounting and Finance, including strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management practices.
  • Proficiency in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, with experience preparing, reviewing, and interpreting statements for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Strong Analytical Skills, including the ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Relevant post‑secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field; professional designation (e.g., CPA) is an asset.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal controls in a non‑profit or faith‑based organization is beneficial.
  • Advanced skills with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with financial compliance and audit processes.
