Salary: $46,604.27-$52,554.36 per annum based on work experience

Hours: 40-hour work week (35 working hours plus 5 hours allocated to daily half‑hour paid lunches and unpaid breaks). Eligible for benefits.

About the role: As an integral member of the team, you will often be the first point of contact, whether in person or over the phone, for many of the John Howard Society’s clients and community partners. This position works collaboratively within our main office location, which houses several of our agency’s programs, providing opportunities to learn about all that we offer and garner support from a tremendous staff team.

You will greet all visitors and help clients navigate through the office. In addition, you will maintain calendars for appointments, review and respond to correspondence in the corporate email inbox, sort mail, make copies, help keep the office well organized, and work closely with the central services department team as tasks and projects arise.

As the successful candidate, you have:

  • Excellent client‑facing approaches, including providing warm reception to all clients regardless of their barriers;
  • Understanding of, and experience working with, clients that struggle with multiple barriers (mental health, criminality, substance use);
  • An outgoing, innovative, enthusiastic, and passionate personality to assist others;
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and administrative skills;
  • Ability to use sound judgment and common sense;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge of social, environmental, employment, and cultural issues affecting vulnerable individuals in our community;
  • High level of computer proficiency (MS Office, Excel, Office 365 Teams and SharePoint);
  • Bilingualism in any other language is considered a strong asset.

You’ll also be prepared to:

  • Work on‑site full time;
  • Answer all incoming calls, transfer calls, and/or take messages;
  • Greet customers, vendors, and community partners professionally;
  • Enter data into company interface;
  • Support the organization of staff and client meetings;
  • Receive all incoming/outgoing messages and distribute them;
  • Open, sort, and distribute mail;
  • Order office supplies and maintain order in the copier/mailroom spaces;
  • Collaborate with off‑site JHS program staff and managers;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
