Position: Clerk II, Molecular Genetics Program – Temporary Full-Time (1.0) (until March, 2027)

Compensation Pay Range: $25.26-$31.04

Overview

The Clerk II works closely with the administrative and laboratory staff in the Genetics Diagnostic Laboratory, supporting the efficient management of patient information, referral materials, and laboratory documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Enter and verify patient information in applicable software systems.
  • Obtain missing information from referral sources as needed.
  • Retrieve, mail, fax, and scan laboratory reports and related materials.
  • Handle inquiries regarding the Regional Genetics Program from the public and healthcare providers.
  • Triage telephone calls based on nature and urgency.
  • File on‑site and manage off‑site storage of related documents.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member within the laboratory.
  • Perform other clerical duties and related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Police Record Check (essential).
  • High school diploma (essential).
  • College diploma in Medical Administration or related field (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer‑service skills (essential).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail (essential).
  • Aptitude for databases/software packages and ability to learn new software quickly (essential).
  • Ability to take initiative, work as part of a team, and be flexible (essential).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
  • Previous clerical experience (essential).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French (preferred).
