Position Summary

As assigned by the Director, and under the direction of the Administrative Assistant to the Director or an Assistant Director, the Administrative Assistant provides a full range of administrative support, such as preparation of documents, correspondence, travel and meeting arrangements, and expense claim processing, for units assigned to those negotiators. The position provides administrative support to officers within the Communications, Education and Human Rights Branch (CEHR) and to the Administrative Assistant to the Director, contributing to the effective administrative functioning of the entire Branch.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of documents, correspondence, travel and meeting arrangements
  • Processing of expense claims
  • Administrative support to CEHR branch officers and the Administrative Assistant to the Director
  • Collaboration as part of a team of administrative assistants and other staff
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Successful completion of business or secretarial training, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:

    Administrative or secretarial duties in a union, legal, regulatory or similar environment.
  • Knowledge:
    Trade‑union role, objectives and activities;
    Public Service Alliance of Canada policies and collective‑bargaining process; government practices and procedures; basic financial procedures; basic graphic‑design functions; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Abilities:
    Determining priorities and problem‑solving with minimal supervision; maintaining confidentiality; learning new technologies, processes and regulations; working independently and collaboratively; effective written and oral communication in English and French (bilingual).
  • Language:
    Bilingual (English and French) at C1 level (CEFR).
