Centre Description

The University of Ottawa Students’ Union (UOSU) is an organization of students from a wide range of political opinions who have united under one common banner. Our goal has been to bring back proper representation and good governance to the uOttawa student body, and we are proud to do just that. Our members come from many different backgrounds and hold many different opinions, but are united by our common goal of improving student life on campus.

Job Description

The Receptionist is the first point of contact to our members and clients. The Receptionist’s primary duty will be to respond to client inquiries both in-person, phone calls and online while providing information the clients need. The Receptionist will also offer administrative support across the organization.

The position will require someone who is knowledgeable of UOSU current activities and the uOttawa campus. The Receptionist will work closely with our Reception team and be expected to support UOSU employees and elected representatives to support their initiatives.

Responsabilités
  • Accueillir et orienter les personnes qui se présentent dans les bureaux du SÉUO;
  • Distribuer du matériel produit par le SÉUO et promouvoir des événements;
  • Répondre aux appels et aux courriels;
  • Répondre aux questions des étudiant
    · e·s et/ou des parties externes;
  • Effectuer des tâches administratives pour soutenir les membres du Comité exécutif;
  • Veiller à la propreté du bureau et au respect des pratiques de sécurité publique;
  • Vendre des tickets;
  • Réaliser des projets et des rapports réguliers;
  • Classer le courrier et les télécopies, timbrer et poster les documents;
  • Offrir des informations sur les clubs du SÉUO et les gouvernements étudiants reconnus ;
  • Photocopies occasionnelles;
  • Traductions occasionnelles;
  • Contribuer à la bonne image du SÉUO; et
  • Autres tâches connexes.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and direct people that come to the UOSU offices;
  • Hand out material produced by the UOSU and promoting events;
  • Answer calls and emails;
  • Answer questions from students and/or external parties;
  • Complete administrative tasks to support the members of the Executive Committee;
  • Ensure office cleanliness and respect of public safety practices;
  • Sell tickets;
  • Complete regular projects and reports;
  • File mail & faxes and stamp & mail documents;
  • Offer information on UOSU clubs and Recognized Student Governments;
  • Occasional photocopying;
  • Occasional translation;
  • Contribute to the positive image of the UOSU; and
  • Other related duties.
Qualifications
  • Must be bilingual in both official languages of the University of Ottawa (French & English);
  • Must be a student at the University of Ottawa ;
  • Must be creative, organized, punctual and comfortable dealing with the public;
  • Must be knowledgeable of the campus and of the UOSU services and businesses;
  • Must be able to multitask and work under pressure;
  • Must be able to develop harmonious relationships with coworkers;
  • Must be able to demonstrate professionalism, know-how, and tact;
  • Must be able to promote UOSU services and activities;
  • A strong knowledge of uOttawa is an asset; and
  • Knowledge of the UOSU, its services, businesses, clubs, associations and activities is an asset.
