PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attends job showings.
Review site conditions.
Perform pre‑qualification tasks as required.
Review and comprehend tender specifications and communicate with the tender consultant any questions or concerns.
Communicate with sub‑contractors to obtain pricing.
Performs quantity calculations for all tender items.
Review and interpret contract documents with a strong ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
Pricing of items and jobs to be performed in a computerized estimation program.
Fill out pre‑tender forms for tender tracking, fill out tender documents, delivery of tender documents, follow‑up and provide tender results.
Review tender submissions with the appropriate manager.
Liaises with customers, sub‑contractors and consulting engineers to build personal relationships and promote the positive qualities and benefits of RWT.
Attends industry related functions to build relationships and networks.
Communicate with engineers through budget pricing etc. to build a relationship and to establish a positive, inviting culture.
Monitors job posting sites, newspapers, engineering firms etc. for tendering opportunities.
Internally communicate to construction, project administration and accounting contract specification and costing details.
Issue job transmittals to construction, contract administration and accounting.
Meet with job superintendent to provide and communicate relevant job information.
Provide project management support for contracts.
Negotiate additional work prices for on‑going contracts.
Approve contract billings.
Provide scope of work clarification to construction.
Attend job meetings as required.
Issue and circulate job change orders.
Review job costs from previous and on‑going jobs to provide production rate analysis for construction and future bids.
Review on‑going and completed contracts to look for un‑invoiced work.
Review actual production rates to establish a database.
Review actual job costs and production rates to more accurately estimate future bids.
Monitors and updates computerized estimation database to reflect current costs and contract information.
Work towards achieving more advanced training.
Attends training sessions to continue personal development.
Identifies training opportunities and communicate to your manager.
Works with senior staff to develop skills.
Works with estimation to share and enhance individual knowledge and skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECertified Engineering Technologist designation or equivalent experience is required.
15+ years infrastructure field experience and estimation.
Experience leading or mentoring junior staff.
Ability to provide constructive feedback to peers.
A high proficiency in:
- Microsoft Word
- Excel
- Outlook
- Estimation software systems
Standard office environment. May be required to work occasional weekends or evenings.
COMPENSATION INFORMATIONThe expected salary range for this position is $110,000-$160,000. Placement within the range is dependant on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
