Base pay range: CA $24.61/hr - CA $37.95/hr.

Newprint, a leading printing company located in Ottawa, is seeking a talented and experienced Prepress Technician to join our team. This role involves ensuring the flawless preparation of printing jobs for production and working with a range of formats and technologies in a dynamic environment.

• Prepare printing jobs for production, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
• Handle jobs related to flats with dieline and die-cutting, books and multi-page signatures, and flexographic for roll-to-roll printing.
• Utilize extensive knowledge of XML, PDF, color management, dot screens, and other technical languages for prepress operations.
• Demonstrate expertise with Adobe products, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Impose and create colour separations and plate output to achieve exceptional print quality.
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of projects.

• 5+ years of experience as a Prepress Technician in a fast-paced printing environment.
• Proficient in preparing various types of printing jobs, including flats, books, and flexographic printing.
• Exceptional knowledge and proficiency in Adobe products, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Experience with imposing and creating color separations and plate output.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Ability to calculate the cost of production between various output devices to meet tight deadlines.
• Experience with Imposing applications such as Tilia Labs, Prinect, Metrix.
