Your work will focus on public safety beats, delivering facts to readers during emergencies and ensuring safety.

• Seek out and respond to breaking news events in the national capital region.
• Report on the biggest stories in the city with speed and clarity.
• Pitch enterprise stories that bring a solutions lens to public safety issues in Ottawa.
• File news in various formats: quick hits, in-depth explainers, live blogs, and video.
• Work collaboratively with a tight‑knit team of reporters, editors, photographers and digital producers to bring essential journalism to readers.

• Digital‑first journalist with a proven track record of writing clean copy quickly.
• Daily news reader with a finger on the pulse of Ottawa.
• Excellent communicator and collaborator who thrives under pressure.
• Team player who goes the extra mile to support colleagues and tell stories that matter.
• Journalism degree or equivalent work experience.
• Valid G driver’s licence.
• Demonstrated success writing breaking news – please send your best writing samples.
• Experience with video or audio production and/or data visualization is an asset.
• Bilingualism is an asset.
