Job Description

The House of Commons’ Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff the Television Production Director position.

This position requires on-site presence five (5) days per week.

The Digital Media Operations team supports parliamentary information services by operating the ParlVU and SenVU platforms, as well as distributing audio and video feeds of parliamentary and Senate proceedings to media partners, including CPAC. The team is responsible for broadcasting the proceedings of the House of Commons and its committees, while also providing technical support for committee meetings and activities of both the House of Commons and the Senate.

Reporting to the Digital Media Operations Team Leader, the Television Production Director is responsible for providing production direction for live broadcasts and Parliament-produced content. In this role, you will support the production and on-air delivery of televised events, including programming-related aspects involving the creation, adaptation, and enhancement of audiovisual content in both official languages for the live broadcasting of proceedings of the House of Commons, the Senate, and their committees, as well as related prerecorded video content.

The successful candidate may be assigned as a Television Production Director with the Senate, the House of Commons, or committees.

The Television Production Director works closely on the planning and assignment of broadcast teams responsible for covering events within a continuous 24/7 operational support model. In this role, you will be required to work variable schedules, perform overtime, and be on call to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications Education
  • Post-secondary diploma in television broadcasting or an acceptable combination of education, technical training, and experience.
Experiences
  • Significant experience in television or audiovisual production, or in a similar professional broadcast production role;
  • Experience directing live televised events;
  • Technical knowledge of broadcast switchers and routing equipment;
  • Knowledge of the proceedings, protocols, procedures, and practices of the House of Commons and the Senate;
  • Experience scheduling staff supporting technical operations;
  • Experience establishing and maintaining constructive relationships with partners and high-profile clients.
Assets
  • Ability to review, develop, and/or improve operational procedures, gather requirements, and design, develop, and deliver training materials.
