Under the direction of the Chair, Apprenticeship, Automotive and Mechanical Trades, the Professor will teach courses in the Plumbing Apprenticeship Program and Mechanical Techniques Program within ACCE. The Professor will facilitate and guide learning, providing an effective learning environment for all students.
Professional ResponsibilitiesDesign, Revision and Updating of Courses
- Consult with program and course administrators, other faculty, advisory committees, and potential employers and students.
- Define learning outcomes and evaluate and validate these outcomes.
- Specify and approve learning approaches, necessary resources, and other course elements.
- Incorporate educational technologies to meet the learning needs of 21st‑century students.
- Review and revise curriculum and participate in professional development activities during non‑teaching periods.
- Deliver regular instruction in the Fall, Winter, or Summer terms in the home department or across departments.
- Ensure student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques.
- Provide tutoring and academic advising for students both in and out of class.
- Use available resources, including educational technologies, to create a supportive learning environment.
- Evaluate student progress/achievement and assume responsibility for the overall assessment of students’ work within assigned courses.
- Develop and create a learning environment conducive to success for all students.
- Participate in curriculum and departmental/faculty meetings.
- Liaise with community members, engage in program, department, school or faculty, and college promotion.
- Remain current in the field of study and maintain awareness of emerging trends and practices related to teaching and learning in higher education.

- 306A Red Seal Plumber license.
- Minimum 5 years in apprenticeship training, automotive and mechanical trades.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a postsecondary setting.
