Replacement Faculty Position
The School International Development and Global Studies at the University of Ottawa is accepting applications for one (1) replacement position. We are looking for candidates with expertise in the following areas:
Financing for Development, Canada and the World, Globalization and Development, Project Management, Conflict and Development, Global Citizenship and Development, Qualitative Research Methods and Development. Expertise in Africa and/or the Middle East would be considered an asset.
Priority will be given to candidates who can teach in French at time of hire.

The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs in both English and French. With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and a wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa. Its graduate students are trained by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty’s Master’s and Ph.D. programs.
Title of the position: Replacement Professor
Duties
Teaching six courses per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate levels
Participating in academic and administrative activities
Other activities as specified in the collective agreement
Qualifications
Hold a Ph.D. in any relevant field. Candidates who are close to completing a Ph.D. could be considered;
Demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching and research;
Professional experience in development practice would be an asset.
Bilingualism
The University of Ottawa is a bilingual institution, and all professors in the Faculty of Social Sciences must be actively bilingual (French and English). Active bilingualism is required at the time of hiring.
Terms and Salary
This three-year contract will begin on July 1, 2026, and end June 30th, 2029, and is non-renewable.
Salary scale for Replacement Professors starts at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025) for a full-time teaching workload.
