Tenure-Track Assistant Professor – Mathematics of Data Science
The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Mathematics of Data Science. The start date of the position is July 1, 2026, or as mutually agreed. We offer an excellent research environment. The successful candidate will establish their own research program, supervise graduate students, and teach both graduate and undergraduate courses.

This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA). The successful candidate will be offered a tenure-track appointment with the rank of Assistant Professor, which is in accordance with the Academic Faculty Agreement , and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
QUALIFICATIONSApplicants must have a PhD degree in Mathematics (or a closely related mathematical field) completed prior to the start date of this position. They must demonstrate strong promise and significant achievements in research in Mathematics with meaningful connections to Data Science. For the purposes of this search, this refers to mathematically driven research related to data and information, grounded in core mathematical theory and methods, and maintaining a clear conceptual or methodological connection to data‐driven analysis.
A strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching is essential.
