Role OverviewChaplaincy Leaders at OCSB are essential in meeting the pastoral and spiritual needs of both students and staff. They are deeply committed to the Catholic faith and are guided by the mission, vision, values, priorities, and strategic plan of the OCSB, along with key initiatives of the Ministry of Education. Under the direction of the School Principal, the Faith Animator and the Superintendent of Leadership and Parent Engagement, the Chaplaincy Leader is called to be a pastoral presence and servant leader within the school.
This ministry of presence is foundational to a service of leadership exercised on behalf of the school, school board, and diocese.
The Chaplaincy Leader's main areas of responsibility include fostering a vibrant liturgical and prayer life within the school community, providing spiritual accompaniment and faith-building opportunities for staff and students, and promoting social justice through reflection and outreach initiatives. They collaborate with local parishes, diocesan personnel, and school leadership, administer chaplaincy programs, and continue their own faith development while supporting the spiritual growth of others, ensuring that the Catholic identity of the school remains central in all activities.
Our Board is creating an eligibility list of qualified candidates for current and future opportunities of Chaplaincy Leader.
School locations will be determined at the time of assignment.
We currently have an immediate part‑time temporary need rick’s HS (0.50 FTE).
Job Description- Foster a vibrant life of prayer, worship, and social justice within our Catholic school community
- Ensure that the school remains a place where the theory of religious education is lived out in the daily reality of community life
- Animate the liturgical life of the school through morning prayers, Eucharistic celebrations, and seasonal prayer services
- Oversee the care and sacred use of the school chapel
- Act as a listening presence, offering pastoral counseling and spiritual support to students and staff
- Provide a compassionate pastoral presence during times of grief, crisis, or bereavement
- Organize and lead retreat programs, faith‑building clubs, and staff professional development days
- Promote the sacramental life of the school, collaborating with local clergy for Reconciliation and the Eucharist
- Promote equity and Catholic Social Teaching by overseeing fundraising campaigns and projects for the marginalized
