Become a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa, teaching ESL 140 in the Faculty of Arts this fall. Contribute your knowledge from September 9 to December 11, 2026.
This position within the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) will focus on enhancing students’ academic language skills. You will guide learners through essential components of oral and written English, setting them up for future success. Classes will occur Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 1 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach ESL 140:
Academic Bridging course content
• Enhance students' critical listening and reading capabilities
• Develop students' skills for fluent oral interactions
• Assist in synthesizing information and formal writing
• Foster critical thinking in academic writing frameworks
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in TESL, second language teaching, or similar
• Minimum two years of ESL teaching at the post-secondary level
• Experience delivering similar ESL courses preferred
• Holding a TESL Certification or equivalent is essential
• Successful completion of provincial training is mandatory
